From Sketch to Dress : Kate

Newly engaged Brides-to-be, we know how daunting the experience of wedding-dress-shopping can be. The thought of having your gown bespoke made can be overwhelming so here we want to breakdown the process for you every step of the way and show you how we take your ideas from Sketch to Dress.

Kate's Bespoke Experience

Kate was one of our Brides that came to us after a very brief wedding dress shopping trip as she realised the chic & elegant style of dress she was wanting was not available in the majority of bridal boutiques. She wanted a bridal look that was contemporary and reflected her own personal style perfectly.

Stage 1- initial consultation.

Kate came to us with her Mum for her first appointment, she had brought along 2 sketches and inspo photos of 2 different styles that she wanted to discuss with us. The inspiration for these gowns came from haute-couture red-carpet dresses that Kate had seen and loved the silhouettes and fabrics used. Whilst we would never replicant another design, working from tear sheets and inspiration photos is a great start for us and helps to build a picture of the Bride's personal style and the look that she wants to achieve on her wedding day. Kate tried on a few of our sample dresses to see how certain silhouettes looked on her and from this we were able to eliminate certain features and finalise the overall design and fabrics.

Stage 2- Toile Fitting.

This is such a crucial stage to the bespoke process. The toile is the first time our Bride is able to see her ideas made up and able to try on the silhouette and design as previously discussed. At this stage anything can be altered to the design and style of the dress and its main objective is to ensure our Bride is happy with the silhouette and feels comfortable with the overall style. Finer detailing can be altered and decided upon at a later stage. With Kate we decided to make the drape on her back more dramatic and made her V-neck in to a plunge neckline.

Stage 3- Dress Fittings

This is where is starts to get really exciting! Week on week our Brides will see their dream dress come to life. With each fitting we make decisions on the next steps and detailing of the dress. It is really important to have your underwear, shoes and accessories for these fittings. For those Brides wanting veils, headpieces or embellished accessories, we have a wide range of pieces for you to try during your fittings.

Stage 4- Saying ' I Do' ...

The day we have all been working to is finally here, with each and every element so well thought out and your dress of dreams to wear, you finally get to say 'I do'. Kate looked an absolute dream on her wedding day in Portugal. Her gown was later used in Harpers Bazaar feature on us in their 'Top 8 Bridalwear Designers in the UK'.

“Thank you so much for making mine and my Mum’s dream dresses! We have loved every minute of the experience from start to finish, you have made it a joy! I can’t explain how much I love my dress- We will miss our lovely fittings with you both. ”
